Father Christmas has a busy weekend coming up in Shooters Hill: he’s visiting St Nic’s Fête at Christ Church on Saturday and Woodlands Farm Christmas Fair on Sunday.

St Nic’s Fête runs from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, 3rd December. There will be a visit from St Nicholas who will bring a gift for all the children present. There will also be Mulled wine, mince pies, homemade cake, crêpes, biscuit decorating, tombola, a treasure hunt, children’s activities, a Christmas gift stall, and local craft stalls. Then there is a children’s disco from 5.00pm. Entrance costs £3.00 per child with a £5.00 cap per family.

Maureen sent me details of Woodlands Farm‘s annual Christmas Fair on Sunday 4th December from 11.00am to 3.00pm:

All are welcome at the Woodlands Farm Trust Christmas Fair.  Come and meet Father Christmas, sip mulled wine whilst browsing stalls of local produce and crafts for early Christmas present ideas, or relax in our café while the kids enjoy crafts and games.  A great festive day out for all the family.  Entry is free, but donations are welcome – all money raised helps us to care for our animals. A great family day out!

No parking on site – please use public transport.

While at the farm there may be a chance to see some of the farm’s new arrivals: British White cow Clover’s new calf and two other recent additions to the farm’s herd.

Children’s Nearly New Sale at Christ Church

Christ Church Children's nearly new sale poster

Nicola wrote with details of a children’s nearly new sale at Christ Church on Shooters Hill this Saturday, 26th April from 2-4pm. This is a table sale of baby and toddler items and is being held to raise funds for Christ Church, where they have ambitious plans for a new church hall/community space. The event description says:

Children’s nearly new sale, featuring delicious homemade cakes! Come along and enjoy some upcycling! Grab a bargain, lots of great kids kit needing a new home! Including clothes, coats, shoes, prams, baths, equipment, toys etc….. Adult entry £1. Come early to get the best stuff. Tables sold out but advertisers wanted for the goody bags to be given out on the door 🙂
From 2pm come grab a bargain or some afternoon tea! Entry £1 per adult.

Sounds like a good place to go for kiddy kit, and cake. And perhaps there’ll be a chance to browse the beautiful stained glass windows at Christ Church, including the one  in memory of Woolfield Fitzhardinge, detail below, who once lived at Elmhurst.

Christ Church School New Website

Another new local web site has just been launched – phase 1 of the  Christ Church Primary School web site is now live. New material is still being added to the site, but it already includes a wealth of information about the school and has links to external sites with data about the school such as the Ofsted sites. The school is also on twitter @ccshprimary.

Christ Church are still in their temporary accommodation at the Shooters Hill Post 16 Campus while the old school buildings are extended into their old playground and a new playing area and  MUGA court created on Eltham Common. I hear the year long building programme is running slightly late, and it may be the end of this academic year before they move back to their home further up the hill.

I’ll add the new School  web site to the local links list on the right.
